Kaika church, school and graveyard – in 1902, a Russian Orthodox church was built on Kaikamäe Hill with the money of a St Petersburg businessman. At this time, many Russians converted into Russian Orthodoxy hoping to get land from the Russian czar. An old graveyard next to the church is still being used. A school was built simultaneously with the church, at first it was a Russian, then an Estonian parish school. Until 1999, Kaika elementary school was one of the smallest schools in Estonia, and then it was closed down. Fortunately, the old house does not stand empty; it is used by a local non-profit association. Its members organise events, sports competitions and working bees, and celebrate national holidays.
