Köstrejärve confirmation school – the first school in Karula was presumably founded by J. G. Forselius in 1687 in Köstrejärve. The present strong redbrick building was erected in 1893, at first as a confirmation school, which operated until World War II. In later years it has been a primary school, sports centre and border guard station.
